We're hiring: General Manager

Elsie May’s Café, Bar & Bakery is looking for an experienced General Manager who has a passion for coffee, fabulous food and decedent cocktails. This role would ideally suit someone who is a natural people person who can create a welcoming atmosphere, motivate our small team to perform to the highest standard possible and generate sales.

You would ideally be an experienced General Manager and have previous experience in managing a busy restaurant, café, bar and/or bakery.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage daily operations for Elsie May’s ensuring correct procedures are in place 
  • Recruit, manage and train members of the staff where required
  • Oversee and organise work schedules and rotas 
  • Manage stock levels appropriately, order stock as and when required and undertake regular stock rotation/stock checks.
  • Ensure opening and closing duties are completed correctly with exceptional attention to details
  • Ensure cleanliness of the building, equipment and facilities are to the highest standards at all times
  • Balance cash drawers and POS system, when required
  • Support the sales strategy and improve sales across all aspects of the business
  • Ensure inventory and maintenance is correctly recorded including wastage
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests and excellent leadership to the team
  • Ensure all customers have their orders taken within a reasonable timeframe
  • Enforce and monitor all health, safety, and sanitation standards in customer areas
  • Handle guest complaints according to provided guidelines
  • Open and close the bar as and when required
  • Designated keyholder 

Experience required

  • Over two years experience in general management
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Organised and capable of multi-tasking with attention to detail
  • Proven track record in increasing and generating sales
  • High standards of personal hygiene and personal appearances
  • Ability to be on feet for several hours at a time
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of team
  • Excellent time management
  • Personal licence holder
  • Strong industry knowledge in food, drink & hospitality

Contract: Full time, permanent contract - 40 hours minimum per week

Salary: Dependent on experience
